Tooth decay
Tooth decay means destruction in the tooth. Common symptoms include tooth ache and the appearance of a cavitation. In order to prevent tooth decay, one should brush its teeth at least twice a day, using dental floss and mouth wash and have regular dental checkup. Besides, excessive intake of carbohydrates should be avoided.
Tooth decay can lead to damages in the enamel and dentin, and the nerves and blood vessels eventually. Based on the severity of the dental decay, there are several treatment options:
- Fill / restore the tooth
remove the decayed part of the tooth in the cavity and fill the cavity. - Artificial inlays, onlays and crowns
remove the decayed, fill the cavity, and prepare the tooth, cover the tooth with an artificial inlay, onlay or crown - Root canal treatment
remove the nerve and infected pulp, allowing the inside of the tooth to be cleaned and sealed, replace the natural crown with an artificial crown
